Event: Thursday Nov. 6, 2014

NYWIFT and Caroline's On Broadway have teamed up to create Women Aren't Funny: Debunking the Myth as part of the 2014 New York Comedy Festival.  Moderator and comedian Bonnie McFarlane will delve into the themes of her recent documentary, "Women Aren't Funny" with our group of illustrious panelists.  These women include television and film talent, all of whom have made a major impact on the world of comedy.  They will share their journeys as performers, writers and producers - from behind the scenes to the front lines.  With this array of diverse and special talent, it's sure to be a remarkable evening of hilarious, extraordinary women!

Lea DeLaria seems to have achieved overnight stardom with her stand-out role as Big Boo in the Netflix hit series Orange is the New Black. In fact, Lea was the first queer comic to perform on television in America which launched her into world recognition.  Prior to her success on Orange, she appeared in countless television series (including Californication, Law and Order SVU, Will and Grace), films (First Wives Club) and on and off Broadway.  As if that's not enough, she has five records on the Warner Jazz and Classics label and her book, Lea's Book of Rules for the World is in its third printing.

Marina Franklin is emerging as one of the hottest comedians in the comedy scene today, with notable appearances on Wanda Sykes' Herlarious, Showtime's Women Who Kill, The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson, The Jay Leno Show, Chapelle's Show, Tough Crowd with Colin Quinn, Season 2 of NBC's Last Comic Standing and Showtime at the Apollo.  Based in New York, she is a favorite in Comedy Festivals across the world.  Originally from Chicago, Franklin made her acting debut at the Illinois Rep Theatre and earned her MFA in acting at Syracuse University.  Franklin is viciously likeable, if there is such a thing.

Judy Gold, Emmy Award winning actress and comedian, is best known as the star of her two critically acclaimed, long running Off Broadway hit shows: The Judy Show - My Life as a Sitcom and 25 Questions for a Jewish Mother. In addition to numerous guest starring appearances on television (including 30 Rock, 2 Broke Girls, Ugly Betty), her many hosting duties have included The View, Comedy Central's 100 Greatest Stand-ups of All Time and the GLAAD Media Awards. Her stand-up specials include Comedy Central Presents: Judy Gold, Tough Crowd Stands Up and her own HBO half-hour special, for which she received the Cable Ace Award.  Judy won two Emmy Awards for writing and producing The Rosie O'Donnell Show.

M. Blair Breard is the Executive Producer on the award winning comedy series entitled Louie. She also produced Louis C.K. Live from the Beacon Theater, and Louis C.K. Oh My God for HBO. Next year, Ms. Breard will executive produce, with Louis C.K., a comedy series starring Zach Galifianakis, entitled Baskets.

Bonnie McFarlane
(Moderator) is a national headlining comedian who has performed several times on The Late Show with David Letterman, has an HBO special, a Comedy Central special and an adorable 7 year old daughter. But don't ask her to pick a favorite because she loves them all equally.  She most recently directed a movie called Women Aren't Funny that she calls "probably the most important film of our generation." You can get it on iTunes.  Big act, Rich Vos is her husband. She's required by marriage vows to include him in any bio.
