COVID-19 FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE & RESOURCES
Artist Relief - Cycle IV To support artists during the COVID-19 crisis, a coalition of national arts grantmakers have come together to create an emergency initiative to offer financial and informational resources to artists across the United States. Artist Relief will distribute $5,000 grants to artists facing dire financial emergencies due to COVID-19; serve as an ongoing informational resource; and co-launch the COVID-19 Impact Survey for Artists and Creative Workers, designed by Americans for the Arts, to better identify and address the needs of artists. The Actor’s Fund To help our community manage during this public health crisis The Actors Fund has partnered with several industry organizations to provide emergency financial assistance to those who have immediate financial needs. Please note, while some of the funds are for members of entertainment unions, you do not need to be a union member to receive help from The Actors Fund. Please know that we are experiencing an extremely high volume of requests and ask for your patience during this time. Emergency financial assistance is available for people who are unable to pay their basic living expenses (food/housing/health care) over the next two months. We ask that if you have the resources to cover that period, please wait to apply. These are unprecedented times and we all must steward our resources very carefully. Female Voices Rock Film Festival The FVR Film festival is confirmed to take place sometime in October. We are working with local officials to determine what format the festival will take: whether it will be held at a physical venue, or online via Eventive’s Virtual Festival format, or in some combination of the two. Regardless of the format, prizes will still be presented. Female Voices Film Festival is committed to creating a platform for female artists to be able to share their work. The event will take place in October and feature short films by women filmmaker, Q & As, and a closing award ceremony.Our industry panel of judges include Emmy award winner and Oscar nominated producers. Black Women in Comedy Film Festival Black Women in Comedy Festival is celebrating its 2nd Year. The Festival celebrates women in Comedy from the African diaspora. We seek comedic films centered in the Black female experience from the US and across the world. The Festival also showcases live comedy with stand up acts, sketch comedy, Improv and Musical Comedy. This two day Festival brings together #blackgirlmagic in its truest comedic form. Black Women Film Network Summit Established in 1997, the Black Women Film Network (BWFN) was founded to prepare black women to enter the film and television industries. The organization seeks to preserve the voice of these women through film and educational programs that empower and inform. A 501(c)3 non-profit, BWFN provides student scholarships, hosts screenings and workshops, and honors individuals who have excelled in this difficult industry. Each year, BWFN hosts the BWFN Summit, a two-day cultural celebration of black women in the arts and entertainment that aims to connect key industry players with content creators. Taking place March 8th and 9th, 2019 in Atlanta, the BWFN Summit includes a Short Film Competition featuring emerging and established filmmakers. Participants will screen their film in front of a live audience and have the opportunity to host a post-screening talk-back. When/Where: October 10th-December 10th, 2020 Deadline: August 12th (Final Deadline), August 12th (Late Deadline), September 21st (Notification Date) Application Fee: $30-$65 Eligibility: Submitted shorts must be produced or directed by a Black woman or feature a Black woman in a leading role. Atlanta Women’s Film Festival The Atlanta Women's Film Festival is a live screening of short films and table read events that takes place in Atlanta, GA. This event is an amazing opportunity to promote female filmmakers, directors, writers, producers, actors, and female centered storylines to our incredibly supportive film community. There will be live screening blocks of films with Q&As with the filmmakers, table reads for the screenplays in our competition, live panels with influential women in the film industry and networking events for anyone that would like to attend. Female Filmmakers Fuse Film Festival We celebrate both emerging and established female filmmakers during a three day jammed pack festival in Los Angeles, California! Fem.Cine.Anarchy Film Festival Fem.Cine.Anarchy is a free admission, popup screening that celebrates diverse, intersectional, edgy films directed by women. Presented during the month of September, Fem.Cine.Anarchy was created to coincide with #Scalarama and #DirectedbyWomen's Worldwide Film Viewing Party. When/Where: September 17th, 2020 Deadline: August 7th (Late Deadline), August 14th (Notification Date) Application Fee: $5-$10 Eligibility: Fem.Cine.Anarchy seeks provocative and edgy, *narrative short* films of no longer than 15 minutes, directed by female-identified persons and featuring female-identified main characters. No nonfiction or documentary films will be considered. Male protagonist-led films will not be considered. This event puts the focus squarely on narrative fiction films and female voices and vision. You must be 18 years of age or older to submit a film. Entries can be from any year as long as they are no longer than 15 minutes total running time (including credits). Entries should not be available online to the general public. By submitting your work, you guarantee that your entry is your original work, and does not infringe on the copyright or other rights of other people. You further guarantee that all listed creators have authorized submission to Fem.Cine.Anarchy. If selected, you agree to allow Fem.Cine.Anarchy to screen your film in public when the popup event is scheduled. Reminder: this is a popup event, generally held outdoors during September. Women In Horror Film Festival The Women in Horror Film Festival was founded in late 2016 by filmmakers Vanessa Ionta Wright and Samantha Kolesnik. We are a filmmaker and screenwriter focused festival dedicated to celebrating and showcasing women creatives in genre film, as well as promoting inclusion and diversity in order to foster an equal and level playing field. Winners in select categories will receive a truly one-of-a-kind "Lizzie" trophy. Each trophy is hand-painted ensuring that no two Lizzies are exactly alike. Black Muslim Girl Fly Film Festival The Black Muslim Girl Fly Film Festival (BMFF) is an annual one-day event of film showcases that profile stories by Black Muslim Girl filmmakers and creative talent in the film, television and digital space. Originally founded in February 2018 with the purpose of creating a platform to showcase film content by Black Muslim women filmmakers, BMFF is also designed to create opportunities to network with industry professionals and cultivate community among Black Muslim Girls in film around the world. Dognapped - Short Film Casting “Dognapped," a comedy that focuses on Dee, who steals her ex's dog, Rosie. “Dognapped” showcases the stories of those who are down on their luck and feel forced into their current situations. The story functions as an outlet; a way to let go of things that have already passed, learning to move on, and realizing there is only forward. Even though the story takes place in the present day, we are approaching the film like it is a period piece. We’re looking for a grittiness. An evocative of a film in ‘70s New York. This is a character driven short proof of concept short. Think Sharone Meir, the DP from Whiplash. Media Coordinator – Catch Co. Catch Co. in Chicago, IL is looking for a creative, tenacious and organized team member to assist with content and influencer-related initiatives. The Media Coordinator will assist in execution of long-form content production, including pre-production, production logistics and post-production coordination. This role will also be responsible for assisting with various influencer marketing activities, including researching new influencers, assisting with proposals, contracting, tracking deliverables and reporting KPIs. Our rapid growth will require this individual to partner with a number of leaders across the marketing team and ensure we are maximizing the impact of our extensive content and influencer efforts. Producer - Telemundo Telemundo Deportes is looking for an experienced and creative producer for the No. 1 sports studio show in Spanish-language TV, Titulares y Más…the late-night program at the intersection of sports news, opinion and pop culture. This position will concentrate primarily in producing the department’s late-night sports franchise, Titulares Y Más, across all linear, digital and social platforms. The Producer will also assist in similar capacities with other productions, as needed. Producers are responsible for the successful creation and execution of a show. The role of the producer is to create and arrange all editorial content for the broadcast, manage all aspects of the production. Producers also supervise show staff, and coordinate other deliverables with sales, traffic, digital, technical production and other internal teams. The producer will report to the show’s Director of Production or Executive Producer. Type: Full Time Eligibility: Seven years’ experience working in a live TV environment or ten years’ experience working in television is required. A bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications and/or Broadcasting from an accredited university is required. Solid knowledge of sports content with an emphasis on Mexican and International soccer, US domestic sports, boxing and combat sports targeted for the US/Hispanic market. Candidates must be able to line produce live shows in a traditional PCR environment, and learn new production workflows, including automated PCRs. NYC Department of Cultural Affairs (DCLA) The NYC DCLA is dedicated to supporting and strengthening New York City's vibrant cultural life. The Film Independent Camera Grant The Film Independent Camera Grant is a program for Film Independent Fellows and alumni. Film Independent will select a qualified filmmaker, on a rolling basis, who will be loaned a digital camera body (based on availability) to use for their narrative or documentary short, feature film production or web series. The grant includes an ARRI Alexa SXT Plus camera body OR a Blackmagic URSA Mini Pro 4.6K. Sloan Distribution Grant The Sloan Distribution Grant is a $50,000 grant awarded by Film Independent to a film that is entering its distribution phase. Eligible films must depict themes, stories and characters grounded in real science, technology or economics. Panavision New Filmmaker Program Panavision believes in helping students and beginning filmmakers achieve their dreams. More than 25 years ago, Panavision launched the New Filmmaker Program, an ongoing grant program that loans camera packages to film schools, training programs, and independent filmmakers – at little or no charge. Panavision’s commitment to the industry's future provides student and beginning filmmakers the opportunity to work with professional grade equipment early in their careers. Cinereach Cinereach develops, produces, finances, and supports feature-length fiction, nonfiction and hybrid films crafted for the big screen.
