Online Industry Resources


Many industry companies, schools, and organizations have begun to offer free online resources during this unprecedented time, including USITT. We've compiled an ongoing list for you to explore. Consider it a hub for all the industry resources available to you from the comfort of your own home.
During this unprecedented time, USITT is here to provide resources to our membership and beyond. Online learning, job opportunities, and industry resources are available year-round for those who may be out of work, those who are having to navigate the waters of teaching classes online that traditionally would not be suited as web-based education, and more.

There are an abundance of companies actively seeking those looking for summer work. During trying times such as these, we want you to feel secure knowing steady work and career opportunities are available to you.
Be proactive! Provide to us your contact information, areas of interest, as well as a link to your LinkedIn profile to begin networking! Once you provide us with your information, we'll get the word out to potential employers. By doing so, you will save valuable time not having to seek out employers individually and be one of the first to have your resume looked at by hundreds of companies and potential employers!
SETC has put together a useful list of resources to look into for assistance during this unpredictable period. From teaching and student resources to ways to stream Broadway plays, this is one collection of suggestions to take a look at.
HowlRound plus a group of artists, arts administrators, and others from around the US on held a panel: Artists in a Time of Global Pandemic on Monday March, 16 2020. They discussed how COVID-19 is impacting freelance artists (those who identify as independent contractors) from all disciplines and where artists can look for support in this complicated moment. The conversation focused on shared resources (legal, advocacy, how to take your work virtual, finding emergency funding, and financial best practices in crisis) and building and grounding our national community.
The Stage Managers' Association of the United States has opened its free job posting service to businesses, campaigns, and employers — part of the live entertainment industry or not — in order for those who are out of work to seek out employment opportunities.
ETC is offering all of their LearningStage online courses for FREE until May 15. This is an excellent resource to utilize during this time, and we encourage our members to take full advantage of this opportunity for continued education.
Behind the Scenes announces an online behavioral health screening program as part of its Mental Health and Suicide Prevention Initiative. These free screenings are completely anonymous, private, easily accessible, and quick to complete.

CAST will be hosting FREE one-hour long webinars every Monday for five straight weeks for their industry-standard wysiwyg light design software.
Many colleges and universities who use Lightwright are now conducting classes remotely, which means their students do not have access to the school's computer lab and Lightwright licenses. A special emergency Lightwright license is now available for anyone who needs to use Lightwright under these circumstances between now and June 1, 2020.

Interested in lighting console training? Bobby Harrell of Strand announced on Facebook that training costs will be waived. "Anyone that wants Strand console online training, you can go to our website and send a request for online training. All normal online training costs have been waived for the next few weeks to help our entertainment lighting community."

John Huntington, professor of Entertainment Technology, sound engineer, and author of the book Show Networks and Control Systems is offering free video lectures on his Control Geek website based on the chapters of his book.
Christian Jackson will be streaming a live tutorial for the MA Lighting International grandMA2 console on Youtube tomorrow afternoon at 1 p.m. EST.
The live stream will cover topics such as programming, data management, cloning, using the bitmap engine, and timecoding. Going a few steps further, I'll show you how to integrate other systems including Showkontrol, Resolume, Madrix, Capture, and more.
Chicago Flyhouse is offering a $50 registartion discunt to all USITT, IATSE, and ETCP members for their training classes taught by rigging specialists.
