Women Who Write In Film 
We are Women Who Write in Film and our goal is to be the world’s foremost screenwriting competition for women. We want to support female writers and producers of all shapes and sizes, but we don’t just want to support female writers. We want to be a springboard for your success. We want to forge a festival that will discover and recognize the best emerging female talent and the most original female voices from around the world. We will go to the ends of the Earth to find the best new female talent and then do whatever it takes to put the top new female screenwriters firmly on the entertainment industry’s radar by designating them as finalists and winners in the Women Who Write in Film Screenwriting Competition.

  • Eligibility: We only accept submissions electronically. There is no limit to the length of the scripts you submit and they can be in script or treatment form. There is no limit to the number of projects you may submit. Scripts must be written in English and can be in any film or television genre. Entrants are prohibited from contacting the judges during the competition. Entry fees are non refundable and contest is void where prohibited by law. Employees and family members of the film festival are not eligible. Entrants must be 18 years or older to enter the contest.

The Virginia Sweded Film Festival 
The Virginia Sweded Film Festival was founded in 2016 by Myron Smith and is rapidly growing as it now approaches its third year. The Virginia Sweded Film Festival is a presentation of fast-paced, low budget remakes of classic movies. In 2016, there were nearly 200 attendees who came to the first VA Sweded Film Festival. In 2017, the event was expanded into a three day event. 2018 promises to be our biggest year yet!

  • Deadline: June 1, 2018 (Regular); August 1, 2018 (Late)
  • Submission Fee: $25-$60
  • Eligibility: 1. You make the film at your own risk. 2. If making a parody of a copyrighted film, you must include a disclaimer at the beginning of your film. 3. Do not use copyrighted music in your film without permission. 4. Films that result in the harm of an animal will be disqualified. 5. You must be present at the Virginia Sweded Film Festival to be eligible for the Grand Prize. 6. Your film must be submitted on a playable DVD or a USB flash drive. Send submissions to: Myron Smith- P.O. Box 354, Ridgeway, VA 24148 7. No Entries (media or documents) will be returned. 8. The Best in Show award will be decided by audience vote. Since Myron Smith is founder of the VIrginia Sweded Film Festival, he will not be eligible for the Grand Prize. If one of his films is voted as Best in Show, he will forgo the prize and pass the Grand Prize along to the next runner-up. Actors and Actresses appearing in Myron's films will still be eligible for Best Actor or Best Actress award. 9. The completed film must be received before the Regular Deadline to be considered an Official Selection. 10. No more than 12 films will be accepted. The Virginia Sweded Film Festival has the right to deny a film submission for any reason.

World of Women Film Fair Middle East
The World of Women’s Cinema - WOW Film Fair Middle East is the first women’s short film fair that promotes and awards the talents of women directors, producers, writers, editors and cinematographers in the film industry internationally. It is an event that offers emerging and established filmmakers the opportunity to screen short works giving a thematic perspective of ... “seeing the world through the eyes of women”. Created by Women in Film and Television NSW, this is the first of its kind event in the Arab world. Committed to improving the status of women, both on and off the screen, the event aims to support and advance women working in film, TV and other related screen industries.


Equinox Women’s Film Festival
Equinox Women’s Film Festival is a collection of films showcasing women. Our first year festival was an overwhelming success and we are excited for our 5th festival! We are hoping to achieve even greater success this year! We are selecting films that were directed, and/or written by women, and would like the films to be highlighting a woman's story. Equinox Women’s Film Festival is the first festival created in the Matanuska-Susitna Valley. The 5th annual Equinox will take place in The Glenn Massay Theater, our state of the art theater.

Stay Tonight- Short Film
This is a short film that will be submitted to film festivals as a SAG New Media project. The storyline for this film follows the lives of two men who grew up together in Brookly, New York. Michael is bisexual and Tony is heterosexual. However, as life moves on both men find themselves in a difficult situation that requires difficult decisions. This is a romance film that contains elements comedy and drama. There is a sex scene in this film which will require partial nudity (from the waist up). Creative camera angles will take care of the rest. Please keep in mind that the sex scene will be filmed professionally and in good taste.

    The Digital Bolex Grant for Women Cinematographers offers approximately $10,000 worth of gear and accessories loaned on a rolling basis to any narrative short, music video, or feature film project to be shot by a female cinematographer. Recipients of the grant receive a loaned camera package for up to 21 production days.

    NW Documentary Artist in Residence
    As a center for non-fiction storytelling, NW Documentary seeks to encourage and foster documentary storytellers. The success of a creative, thriving environment is based on a variety of artists of different experience levels, working under one roof. The center is a place where upcoming storytellers gain inspiration, insight, and encouragement from experienced and established professionals. Likewise, active professionals benefit from a lively community consisting of support, creative exchange, and resources that would not be available to them as solo artists working from their homes. In addition to our regular workshops, internships, and volunteer opportunities, NW Documentary offers the Artist-in-Residence program to fulfill this need.
