THE 2018 COLLABORATION AWARD: WOMEN WORKING WITH WOMEN
 
REQUEST FOR SUBMISSIONS

THE WOMEN IN THE ARTS AND MEDIA COALITION, INC. will present the 2018 Collaboration Award recognizing Women Working With Women.

The $1,000 Collaboration Award and additional honorable mentions are designed to encourage professional women in the arts and media from different specializations to work collaboratively on the creation of a new artistic work.  As the aim of the award is to encourage women to work collaboratively with women of other disciplines, each collaborative team must be comprised of female members of different Coalition associations, unions, guilds or affiliate member organizations. Eligible teams may submit any form of creative collaboration on a new work that had its first public performance within the last two years, 2016-2018. A Public Performance can include--but is not limited to--a staged reading, gallery show, screening, concert series, festival, etc.

Submissions will be judged on the basis of artistic excellence and diversity.  All topics and subjects will be considered.  Special attention shall be given to those projects which reflect the goals of the Coalition:  to advance women’s work and women’s issues. 

The team that has been selected and the honorable mentions will be invited to be recognized at an awards ceremony in New York in October 2018.  Women outside of New York may send a designee to speak about their project and accept the award.

Teams of two or more women working together on the creative project may apply for the 2018 Collaboration Award. Applicants must be members in good standing of two different organizations and/or affiliates with The Coalition.

Member Organizations include: Actors’ Equity Association, Associated Musicians of Greater New York Local 802 AFM, Dramatists Guild, League of Professional Theatre Women, New York Women in Communications, New York Women in Film & Television, Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists, Stage Directors and Choreographers Society, and Writers’ Guild of America, East.

Affiliate Member Organizations include: BOLD, Drama Desk, International Center for Women Playwrights, Inc., The Lambs, Inc., Los Angeles Female Playwrights Initiative, National Theatre Conference, Professional Women Singers Association, Theatre Resources Unlimited, 365 Women A Year: A Playwriting Project, WomenArts, The Women’s Media Center, Women Make Movies, and Women in Music.

LA Underground Film Forum
LA Underground Film Forum (LAUFF) is Los Angeles's premier showcase of experimentation in film, video and audio based mediums. It focus on avant-garde, art-house, independent and no/low budget filmmaking, with the third edition taking place in November 2018, Los Angeles. Our program provides a venue for filmmakers to reinvent and explore new approaches, to foster new forms of media art and to build an audience for such work. We aim to present a wide range of work exploring the many definitions and interpretations of the concept of “underground”.

Metamora Film Festival
Metamora Film Festival (Online) is held 3x a year: spring, summer and fall. The festival showcases independent film from all over the world. We are specifically looking for documentaries and short narrative films that are meaningful, can tell a inspirational story, and has the power to make a difference in the world.

• Eligibility: 1. The Metamora Film Festival does NOT accept films that contain nudity, sexually explicit material, or extreme violence. 
  2. The Metamora Film Festival proudly accepts documentaries and short films of all lengths. Films must have been produced within the last 5 years. 
  3. There will be four winning categories: Best documentary, best short film, best student film, and most inspirational film. 
  4. The Student category is open to students only. The submitted film must have been created while the film's director or directors were enrolled at a school, college, or university. Proof of enrollment, such a copy of a student I.D., must be included with the submission. 
  5. The festival organizers reserve the right to include selected films in any category deemed appropriate. Organizers also reserve the right to program selected films as many times during the festival as they see fit.

Shorts of the Week
Filmmakers, there’s a new path emerging. One that recognizes that our industry is rapidly changing at every level from how films are funded to how they’re made and distributed. Short of the Week is where the world comes to discover this new generation of filmmakers and the stories they're telling. It's the one place built by filmmakers that can help you navigate the online world, broadcast your film to a vast online fanbase, and connect you with top industry influencers.

• Eligibility: Length: Films need to be 40 minutes or less. We prefer most films sit on the shorter end of that spectrum—the average film we feature is 10 minutes. The longer your film (over 15 minutes), the tougher judges we tend to be. Premiere Status: No premiere status is required, however, we give preference to films that haven’t yet premiered online. So, don’t wait to submit your film. Rights: We require films to have all necessary rights and releases secured for us to feature them. Yes, this includes music. Shorts That Are Not Pants
Established in 2012, Shorts That Are Not Pants is a quarterly screening series for short films that takes place in Toronto, Canada. Screenings take place in January, April, July, and October. We've screened more than 150 films from 26 countries so far, and we're looking for more undiscovered gems to show our shorts-savvy Toronto audiences. Members of our programming team have experience working for some of the biggest and best festivals in the world (TIFF, Sundance, Hot Docs) and travel to festivals around the world seeking out the best films and the brightest filmmakers to support.

The Digital Bolex Grant for Women Cinematographers offers approximately $10,000 worth of gear and accessories loaned on a rolling basis to any narrative short, music video, or feature film project to be shot by a female cinematographer. Recipients of the grant receive a loaned camera package for up to 21 production days.

NW Documentary Artist in Residence
As a center for non-fiction storytelling, NW Documentary seeks to encourage and foster documentary storytellers. The success of a creative, thriving environment is based on a variety of artists of different experience levels, working under one roof. The center is a place where upcoming storytellers gain inspiration, insight, and encouragement from experienced and established professionals. Likewise, active professionals benefit from a lively community consisting of support, creative exchange, and resources that would not be available to them as solo artists working from their homes. In addition to our regular workshops, internships, and volunteer opportunities, NW Documentary offers the Artist-in-Residence program to fulfill this need.
