From Michelle Memran: about her film about playwright Maria Irene Fornes: THE REST I MAKE UP

The documentary I've been working on for the past 13 years (gulp!) is almost done! We have a rough cut of 80 minutes.

While I can't share the whole film with you yet, we just launched a Kickstarter campaign, where you can see the trailer, read more about the film, and join the community of support around the project.

As you probably know, the film – called The Rest I Make Up – is about the visionary playwright Maria Irene Fornes. It is an intimate, joyful, haunting portrait of art and friendship enduring in the face of forgetting, and brings you straight into the mind and memories of this irrepressible, radiant theater artist. It is my own passionate assertion that creativity continues even as one's ability to create is compromised, and I could not be prouder of the film we've made.

The campaign is to raise the final funds needed to get this project across the finish line, into festivals, and out into the world!

I am humbled to ask if you will help me once more by spreading the word or contributing to this campaign.  We need to raise $50,000 in about 30 days. If 1500 people send just $33, we will get there! If you're able to share, here is the link: http://bit.ly/FornesFilm.

And here's a picture of us filming in 2005, in Seattle:
