LETTERS TO SALA is the true story of Sala Garncarz, a young girl who was unwittingly caught up in the atrocity of war. She lived to share her story. As much as LETTERS TO SALA reflects the past and the atrocities of World War II, it is anchored in the present. We live through Sala's story, simultaneously experiencing those memories and how they affect the lives of her family members today, even though they are two generations apart.
THE OTHER MOZART IS BACK IN NYC
Little Matchstick Factory's THE OTHER MOZART is the true and untold story of Nannerl Mozart, the sister of Amadeus - a prodigy, keyboard virtuoso and composer, who performed throughout Europe with her brother to equal acclaim, but her work and her story faded away, lost to history.
After a successful run in NYC last year, The Other Mozart is back at The Players Theatre in NYC, October 14 - November 21!
In MEMBER CORNER, members of Works by Women can share productions they are working on which feature many women artists, but either have a run of less than 2 weeks or do not meet the 50/50 writer, director, design team Works by Women requires. If you would like your project to be included, please email info@worksbywomen.org with the subject "Member Corner and Title of Your Show" by Monday at noon.
LYSISTRATA: A WOMAN'S TRANSLATION October 9 - 18 Bonstelle Theatre 3424 Woodward Avenue, Detroit, MI
Written by, directed by and starring women, the Bonstelle Theatre's production of Lysistrata: A Woman's Translation is an uncouth, fast-paced celebration of womanhood. While remaining true to the themes of the original text, Robinson's refreshing look at a classic brings the exploration of rhythm and feminine wiles to a new level. Director, Amanda Grace Ewing, brings these characters to life through a playful and erotic voice.
