Join us this Thursday to meet with Sheila Leddy, Executive Director of The Fledgling Fund. Don't miss this great opportunity,

Thursday, October 1 | 6:30pm
Regular Rate: $35.00 | Discount rate: $25.00

Do you believe that film can inspire a better world? If you do and have a project that you hope has the potential to create long-term social impact, this event is for you. WMM is excited to present an evening with Sheila Leddy, Executive Director of The Fledgling Fund. Since its launch in 2005, the Fledgling Fund has contributed nearly $11 million to more than 300 films addressing key social issues, such as equality, democracy, economic justice, education, environment, health care and justice reform, human rights and girl's empowerment. The Fund seeks to improve the lives of individuals, families and communities by supporting innovative media projects that target entrenched social problems. To achieve their goal, Fledgling's support focuses on outreach and audience engagement campaigns for films that put a human face on abstract policies issues, spark conversation, bring people together, strengthen social movements and/or catalyze people to action.  We hope you will join us for what promises to be an engaging event!

We're all taught anatomy and shown sexuality in the media, but what happens when those definitions and explanations are not enough? The Birds and the Bees: Unabridged explores the unique--yet interwoven--life circumstances of eight women and trans people forced to confront their own shifting identities, struggles, and confusions surrounding their own sexuality.
Through dialogue, movement, song, humor, and multimedia, the performance examines such themes as partner communication, sexual identity, the de-sexualization of aging women, today's "hook-up" culture, and sexual health.

THE PIGEON  IN THE TAJ MAHAL
Friday, October 2, 2015
3:00pm
DR2 Theatre
103 East 15th Street Union Sqaure

Irish playwright and actress Laoisa Sexton's new play THE PIGEON IN THE TAJ MAHAL has been selected by the Irish Repertory Theatre for inclusion into it's esteemed Fall 2015 New Works Reading Series.

Somewhere in the rural West of Ireland, in a remote in-between place in the middle of nowhere a mentally impaired outsider is banished to live on an abandoned dilapidated campsite. Cut off from his community and the modern world, he lives a solitary existence until late one night, he finds a stranded bride-to-be from the mean streets of Limerick, who has been separated from her bachelorette party. It's clear these two must find a way to communicate, so they can help each other find the way home.

"Letters to Sala" is based on Ann Kirschner's true-life account of her mother's remarkable ordeal, surviving seven Nazi slave labor camps.  Her story was almost never shared, even with her own family. The trove of 350 letters that Sala Garncarz, a Polish teenager, managed to hide until her liberation in 1945 also remained hidden in her home in New York City for nearly 50 years.
