AUDITION FOR GIRL BE HEARD
Your voice matters, and Girl Be Heard has a spot with your name on it.
2 Opportunities: Our Sunday Workshops & Our Mainstage Show
Our Sunday Workshops
Girl Be Heard is seeking performers, songwriters, dancers, writers and activists to join our Sunday Workshops - young women ages 12 through 21 ONLY. Fluency or ability in foreign languages is a plus.
Workshops are every Sunday from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm and will have public performances in December 2015 and May 2016.
Our Mainstage Show: Embodi(ED)
Girl Be Heard is seeking 5 writer/actors and 5 writer/dancers/movers for our 2015-2016 mainstage show Embodi(ED) to debut at HERE Arts Center, February 8 - February 21, 2016.  Embodi(ED) is a documentary theatre and dance piece addressing the issue of eating disorders and the $55 billion dollar diet industry. Based on interviews with people of all ages and all genders conducted by Girl Be Heard ensemble members, Embodi(ED) demands media accountability in how images of "beauty" are used against women, fueling a culture of body and food obsession that feeds into eating disorders and a dangerous economic investment in maintaining a culture of hatred for women's bodies.
Young women of all backgrounds, abilities, gender expressions, ethnicities, races, sexual orientations, religions, and nationalities are strongly encouraged to audition.
Participation in Girl Be Heard is free.
To learn more, go to girlbeheard.org or email auditions@girlbeheard.org to reserve your audition slot now!
