Today's Modern American Woman - A Roundtable Discussion at Museum of the City of NY

The 1950s image of the “modern American woman” was created by illustrators like Mac Conner, whose leisured

ladies with svelte figures and perfectly coiffed hair filled women’s magazines like Redbook and McCall’s.

Today’s women face a different set of prescriptions from the media, now increasingly focused on their role in the workforce and the extent to which they can “lean in” or achieve “work/life balance.” Join a group of communications and marketing industry leaders to discuss how working women are presented in 2014. With Leslie Yazel, Executive Editor at Cosmopolitan magazine; Joanna Barsh, Director Emeritus at McKinsey & Company; Linda Descano, President and CEO, Women & Co., and Managing Director and Head of Content and Social, Citi; and Stacy-Marie Ishmael, VP of Communities at Financial Times. Moderated by Ashley Milne-Tyte, NPR/Marketplace correspondent and host of podcast series The Broad Experience.

Co-sponsored by ADC, the Let’s Make The Industry 50/50 Initiative, and New York Women in Communications.
