Newsletter: Happy New Year from the WAM Coalition

Best Wishes for a Grand and Glorious New Year! Greetings! We hope you had a terrific holiday season and invite you to join us in the new year as we work harder than ever to address issues of concern to women in our industries! Our goal is to work with leaders in the arts and media to get issues that concern us all discussed and acted upon. From ageism to new forms of media - we are in the thick of it, and we want to hear from you! Got a topic that you feel needs attention? Let us know! Past and Upcoming Events and News Click here to visit our website Collaboration Award  We had a phenomenal turnout and event at the Gershwin Hotel on 3/21  for our Collaboration Award, which honors two or more women from our different organizations,  who collaborate on a work of merit.  The winners were Stefanie Zadravec (playwright - DG) andDaniella Topol (director - SDC) for their collaboration on The Electric Baby.  The awardees and those receiving honorable mentions spoke eloquently, as did writer/performers and featured guests Zina Goldrich and Marcy Heisler. Submissions for this year (to be awarded in 2013) will be accepted soon -- look for the email!  VintAGE 2012 In 2012 we will be producing our third VintAGEevent, celebrating older women and the images of older women in the arts and media. Our lastVintAGE in 2010 at the Leonard Nimoy Thalia Theatre(Symphony Space) was a huge success, both entertaining and enlightening for all. Plans are in the works for this year's event and much more information is coming soon. If you are interested in working on VintAGE in some way, please email us and let us know. We Need You! This organization needs you to work effectively. The more people we have from our organizations involved, the more we can make happen.  We need board representatives from our member orgs, committee members, and people to work on events and projects. Website We're in the middle of a major revamping of our website.  We'll let you know as soon as it's up and running.  Meanwhile, please friend us on facebook, sign up for our Twitter feed, and check in to see our postings! Other Events  We had our firstCross Meet and Greet in January at Pranna with a lively evening that refused to end, networking between NYWIFTand LPTW. We also sponsored a networking session with theSAG Foundationat an event featuring veteran of stage and screen Eileen Fulton. We look forward to hearing from you, and seeing you at our events in 2012 and beyond!
