Eco-System+Community Spotlight💡- Parity Productions

On May 16th, Parity will celebrate a decade of work supporting artists of marginalized genders in NYC theater. As we approach that milestone, our 2026 campaign theme is Expanding the Ecosystem.

Thinking about theatre as an ecosystem is not a new idea. But the metaphor is worth returning to, especially now. In nature, an ecosystem is a dynamic system where many different forms of life depend on one another. Energy moves through it, resources circulate, and each part affects the health of the whole.

Theatre works the same way. When any part of that system is limited, the ecosystem shrinks. When the voices of women, trans, gender-expansive, and intersex artists are missing, the stories we tell narrow.

Parity exists to expand the ecosystem. With equitable representation the ecosystem becomes stronger and more resilient.

The Parity Community Spotlight is our 2026 initiative focused on using our platforms to highlight theaters, organizations, and individuals doing equity-driven work in NYC and beyond.

This week, we're highlighting two exciting events:

THE UNUSUAL CHAUNCEY FAUST

✍️ Written by Coni Koepfinger

🧢 Directed by Aviva Katz

🗓️ March 18–29, 2026

📍Gene Frankel Theatre, 24 Bond Street, NY, NY 10012

Set in the present, THE UNUSUAL CHAUNCEY FAUST centers on Chauncey Faust, an actor who senses that time is slipping away. From the beginning of his career, Chauncey has felt driven by a purpose beyond ambition or recognition. His relationship to his work — and to his own life — carries a dreamlike quality, shaped by a persistent sense of calling that sets him apart.
