"Have a Moment?" on May 3rd

We Make Movies NYC, Affiliate Member of the Coalition, is inviting you to an exclusive script reading of the exciting feature film "Have A Moment?" written by Mike LoBosco.

Date: Saturday, May 3rd, 2025

Time: 4:30-7:30pm (Doors open at 4:00pm)

Location: Houghton Hall, in the Astaire Ballroom

We Make Movies NYC is excited to be presenting this work by Mike LoBosco. Mike is the co-founder of TurnHeah Writer's Office where he facilitates partnerships between their writers and film producers. He landed his first producer contract on his debut feature film about a woman being groomed for the presidency and has since co-written three other screenplays, including “Have A Moment?”--the script we will be featuring.

The story: Yvonne had given up on love—until a chance encounter changes everything. Yvonne believes she has found her Mr. Right. Or has she?

We Make Movies NYC is eager to gather feedback from industry professionals, as they are confident this film has the potential to delight a wide range of audiences. Tickets are free but space is limited.

Girls Write Now

Mentors Wanted!

Girls Write Now (GWN), a nationally award-winning nonprofit, media incubator, and multi-generational community, is currently accepting volunteer mentor applications for our three month Summer Cycle: July, August, and September. For nearly three decades, GWN has broken down the barriers of gender, age, race, and poverty to mentor, teach, and connect writers and leaders across disciplines and around the nation. “Intergenerational friendships can be powerful. The trick is starting them”. *The Wall Street Journal*

At GWN, we like to say that we learn side by side with our mentees. Some mentees are focused on a specific genre, others want to explore different genres or multimedia, and some are more focused on career support. Benefit from all GWN has to offer: publishing and job opportunities; writing and media workshops; professional development; a multigenerational community; and network building.

If you have a passion for supporting young people and experience with writing, creative or professional, this volunteer opportunity is for you. We also offer ample support for mentors, so if this is your first time mentoring, we've got you!

Mentees are 14-24, and Mentors are 25-95.

DEADLINE: APRIL 30TH!

You can also join us at our virtual GWN + YoungArts Open House on Thursday, April 17 at 7 PM ET to learn more about mentoring and ask questions.
