THE MAKING OF FAMILIAR TOUCH - TOMORROW, JUNE 18 webinar attendees will receive discounted tickets to THE NYC THEATRICAL PREMIERE OF FAMILIAR TOUCH AT FILM FORUM JUNE 20TH
Women Make Movies is thrilled to announce a special free webinar on the making of FAMILIAR TOUCH, the debut feature of Sarah Friedland, which premiered at the Venice Film Festival and was the opening night film of this year's New Director/New Films at the Film Society of Lincoln Center. Webinar attendees will receive discounted tickets to attend the NYC theatrical opening of FAMILIAR TOUCH at Film Forum, which begins on Friday, June 20th.
Starring multi-award-winning actress Kathleen Chalfant, FAMILIAR TOUCH is a sensitive coming-of-old-age film that follows an older woman's transition into assisted living as she navigates her relationship with herself, her caregivers, and her family amidst her shifting memories and desires.
A narrative film employing hybrid production methods, FAMILIAR TOUCH was created in collaboration with an actual assisted living facility, where residents participated in creative workshops and were invited to join the production as cast and crew. This innovative, intergenerational process shaped the film's ethical framework, grounded its realism, and informed its anti-ageist perspective.
The webinar will highlight the filmmaking team's unique approach to storytelling, focusing on their inclusive, respectful casting and collaboration with people who bring their lived experience to the screen.
