The Nylon Fusion Theatre Company is taking submissions for its This Round’s On Us: Retrospect short play festival, which will happen in three stages!
RETROSPECT: The Worst of Times (August 2020)
We have some epic fails in our past. Explore one of them. Was this a failure to all or just some? Could it have been prevented?   Should it have been prevented?  Take any angle you want, even speculating what it would mean if things were different.
PROSPECT: The Future (November 2020)
Every era has a “future” style. A future outlook based on the present. What does “future” look like now? What does it sound like? What does it feel like? We look at The Jetsons or Back To The Future and say “where is my flying car?” What do we expect now that we know that flying cars aren’t (yet?) a thing? Speculate. Have fun!
Nylon, born of a fusion of New York and London creativity, is a theatre company committed to giving voice and perspective to established and emerging artists. We develop and produce plays that explore political, social and cultural awareness.

Laboratory (Spokane)
Laboratory is an artist residency program for interactive artists in Spokane, Washington. It offers funded residencies of 1-3 months, with housing, studio space, and a small stipend of $200 every month for artists to make new interactive work, research things, or learn new skills. Artists must put together at least one piece suitable for showing in a public exhibition.
  • Deadline: Applications for Summer residencies begin in March 2020
  • Application Fee: $5
  • When: Year round
  • Eligibility: Laboratory offers two tracks for all eligible applicants:
    • The Production Track. “This track is focused on making something cool, interesting, and aesthetically pleasing. That project you’ve always wanted to do, but never had the time? This is the track for that. In your application, we’ll basically want you to describe what you want to build. Include a preliminary idea of the technologies you want to use and an initial schedule and/or timeline for your projects implementation. Please build in 2 weeks of buffer into your schedule, that is your schedule should be 2 weeks shorter than your intended period of residency.”
    • The Research Track. “The research track is for people wanting to push forward the field of interactive art – this can mean lots of things, but overall, this is the track for you if you’re wanting to create new techniques, hack together new tools, or explore novel ways of interaction. Basically, if you’re looking to do anything that looks into ‘what is interaction’, ‘how can we make the world more interactive’, or ‘how do people react to interactive art’, we’d love to help you find some answers. For this track in particular it is important for us to have a clear understanding of your particular skill set. Your portfolio and and well documented examples of your previous work and/or progress is essential when applying for this track. We are especially interested in your previous research experience and any background research that pertains to your proposal. Depending on the nature of your work it may be useful to include a brief bibliography, works cited, and a list of the frameworks you intend to use.”
