In 1998, eighteen-year-old Linor Abargil was stabbed and sexually assaulted while working as a model in Milan. Weeks after this traumatic experience, she was crowned Israel's first Miss World. Over the course of five years, director Cecilia Peck (SHUT UP & SING) follows Abargil, on a mission to confront the trauma of her past. Abargil, a magnetic and supremely empathic advocate travels from Hollywood to rape crisis centers, to American college campuses, and as far as the townships of South Africa to share her story and inspire others in their journey of healing. Emmy nominated BRAVE MISS WORLD is a call for justice and startingly honest portrayal of how personal tragedy can be transformed into strength that inspires global awareness in the fight against sexual violence.
This SPECIAL EDITION of the film includes both the theatrical and the educational version, which is specifically designed for student audiences. Exclusive bonus scenes are also included, as well as a report by Gloria Allred on a previously unpublished campus rape investigation, survivor testimonials, and filmmaker interviews. BRAVE MISS WORLD premiered at AFI DOCS Film Festival and screened at multiple festivals around the world. Abargil was also invited to the White House to meet with presidential advisors to discuss gender-based violence and how the film can be used to address the issue.
