THE AWAKENING - ACT ONE
by Teresa Lotz and Sarah Rebell

New York, NY
October 26, 2015, 8pm
The Awakening is a new musical inspired by Kate Chopin's 1899 novella about a married woman who becomes romantically attached to a younger man. This illicit affair incites an internal struggle within Edna as she attempts to find freedom and love. But such things are hard to come by in nineteenth century Louisana. This romantic, heartfelt and folk infused score explores the sounds of bluegrass, folk and classical music, all the while underscoring Edna's emotional and psychological experiences on her journey towards self discovery.
