Did you know that Hot Docs Canadian International Documentary Festival is North America's largest documentary festival, conference and market? In addition to the prestigious film festival which takes place in Toronto at the end of April each year, Hot Docs also hosts the "Forum," a major pitching event for filmmakers seeking international co-production financing for projects at various levels of completion. WMM is delighted to welcome Stephanie McArthur, Hot Docs' Industry Programs Manager, for a candid conversation about the film festival, pitching forum as well as the professional development, market and networking opportunities that take place during Hot Docs. Join us for this rare opportunity to learn first-hand about Hot Docs and get a sense of what they're looking for and whether your project might just be a good fit.
We're also happy to announce our first Meet the Funder workshop of the season.
WMM is excited to present an evening with Sheila Leddy, Executive Director of The Fledgling Fund. Since its launch in 2005, the Fledgling Fund has contributed nearly $11 million to more than 300 films addressing key social issues, such as equality, democracy, economic justice, education, environment, health care and justice reform, human rights and girl's empowerment. Fledgling's support focuses on outreach and audience engagement campaigns for films that put a human face on abstract policies issues, spark conversation, bring people together, strengthen social movements and/or catalyze people to action. STAY TUNED FOR ADDITIONAL FALL WORKSHOPS!
