Winter Film Awards Indie Film Festival (Febuary 24-27, 2016, NYC) - WINTER FILM AWARDS announces a CALL FOR ENTRIES for the 2016 Indie Film Festival to be held Feb 24-27 2016 in NYC. We seek diverse, fresh voices & creative indie films from NYC and the entire world in all genres – feature length and shorts, narrative fiction, documentary, animation, horror, web series and music videos. Submissions deadlines: Early-Sept 1, Regular-Nov 1, Late-Dec 1. Now in its fifth year, the rapidly growing Festival showcases the work of emerging filmmakers, and we build our screening program from submissions, not invited films. Each year, roughly 90% of selected films were received via regular submissions. For the 2015 Festival, 76 films from 29 countries were selected for screening, including 34 by female directors and 20 student films, and 75% had a budget under $50k. Works of all genres, forms, and lengths are considered for Festival screening. **Vancouver International Women in Film Festival** (March 8-13, 2016, Vancouver, BC, Canada) – Seeking Documentary, Narrative, Animated, and Experimental films in any genre by established and emerging women filmmakers from around the world in the following categories: Short (under 20 minutes), Mid-Length (20-75 minutes), and Feature (over 75 minutes). **The Athena Film Festival (February 8-21, 2016, Barnard, NY) - Now in its fifth year, the Athena Film Festival — a celebration of women and leadership — is an engaging weekend of feature films, documentaries and shorts that highlight women’s leadership in real life and the fictional world. Also, in an attempt to remedy lack of gender parity in film, the Athena Film Festival has created the Athena List, an annual slate of between 3-5 screenplays with female leaders or strong female protagonists that have yet to be made into films. Screenplays can be written by any gender, but must focus on women’s leadership. Ann Arbor Film Festival (March 15-20, 2016, Ann Arbor, MI) - The AAFF provides at least $20,000 in cash and film stock/services to more than 20 filmmakers, serves as a qualifying festival for Academy Award® nomination in the short film category and provides touring opportunities for select filmmakers. Slamdance Film Festival (Park City, UT) - The Slamdance Film Festival is dedicated to new filmmakers. We accept films in every genre, on any topic from every country around the world. Falling Into Places (Orlando, FL) - Ro Dumas, Director. Jasmine is a beautifully unique girl. She walks around in bright red boots, and has this amazing theory on elephants, and how she's positive that they're psychic. But her uniqueness and out of this world ideas comes with a price. Kids her age don't seem to understand her, and even her best friend is beginning to isolate her. She feels alone until she meets Faryal. Faryal's a bit older, wiser and a lot more excepting of her new friend---but she's Muslim, and according to Jasmine's father, that's a problem. Deep down Jasmine knows that the only person that seems to understand her at that moment is Faryal, and she refuses to let their friendship slip away so easily. Reel Jobs NYC (NYC) - Reel Jobs List is a free job listing, which is limited to job opportunities in the film, television and theatre industries. It is published by the Mayor's Office of Film, Theatre & Broadcasting each Monday.  It can be downloaded in PDF format or picked up at our offices at 1697 Broadway in New York City between 9am and 5pm weekdays.  In the case of a public holiday falling on a Monday, the listing will be available on Tuesday. The Mayor's Office of Film, Theatre & Broadcasting (MOFTB) accepts job listings by email only, which must be submitted using this email form.  The weekly deadline for filing new announcements is Thursday at 12/noon for the following week's Reel Jobs NYC.  Your free listing will run for one week.  If you would like the listing to run longer, please re-submit your listing for each week that you would like it to run.  The MOFTB is not responsible for changes in listings not reported to us.  The MOFTB reserves the right to edit and/or modify submitted listings, and has final approval for all listings. **Open Meadows Foundation Grants** – Funding to individuals and to nonprofit organizations for projects that are led by and benefit women. Grants of up to $2,000 support projects that are designed and implemented by women and girls; reflect diversity of community served by project in both its leadership and organization; promote building community power; promote racial, social, economic, and environmental justice; and have limited financial access or have encountered obstacles in search for funding. In addition to general grants, Open Meadows has 6 special targeted funds: the Jeanne Meurer Indigenous Women’s Fund; the Ellen Dougherty Activist Fund for Young Women; the Edie Windsor Fund for Old Lesbians; the India Fund; the Patsy Lu Fund for Women’s Music Projects; and the Susan F. ##Artist Trust Arts Innovator Award – Unrestricted award of $25,000 to 2 Washington State generative artists in any discipline who are originating new work, experimenting with new ideas, taking risks and pushing the boundaries in their respective fields. The award recognizes artists who demonstrate innovation in their art practice. Applicants must be 18 years of age or older by application date, have a minimum of 5 years in professional art practice, and be a resident of Washington State at time of application and when the award is granted. Kimmel Harding Nelson Center for the Arts Residency (January-June, 2016, Nebraska City, NE) – Two, four, six, or eight-week residencies between July and December for visual artists, writers, composers, interdisciplinary artists, and arts and arts education scholars.  Some “transitional” residencies reserved for recent masters degree program graduates.  Residents receive free housing and a studio as well as a $100 per week stipend. **Turkey Land Cove Foundation** (February-June, 2016, Edgartown, MA) – “A personal retreat for motivated women to pursue their professional, educational and artistic goals,” the Foundation provides need-based grants to women in transition, offering time, space, peace and quiet to plan major life changes, finish a body of artistic work, or accomplish other goals for which such a retreat would be appropriate. Their goal is to provide this to women who would otherwise not be able to afford a retreat. Successful applicants should be motivated, and have clear, definable goals to pursue artistic, professional, or educational advancement and a plan to implement those goals.
