2014 VISIBLE VERSE FESTIVAL @ The Cinematheque in Vancouver!

2014 VISIBLE VERSE FESTIVAL
@ The Cinematheque

ADVANCING KINETIC POETRY SINCE 1999
Sat, Oct. 18
1131 Howe St, Vancouver
Visible Verse, The Cinematheque's annual festival of videopoetry and film, is back!

Vancouver poet, author, musician, and media artist Heather Haley curates and hosts our celebration of this hybrid creative form, which integrates verse with the moving image. We've received a record number of entries this year, over 400. The 2014 programme includes Jade Anouka, J.P. Siplia, Lena Samoylenko and 34 other poets and artists from around the world. Calgary's Kirk Ramdath and Jeff Cruz, collaborators on Babel Death Star will be in attendance along with Vancouverites Tom Wiebe and Lyle Neff of Aylool MacKenzie's Convenient Skytrain Deppaneur.

Videopoetry and poetry film festivals and sites continue to pop up all over the world. In addition to the esteemed Zebra Poetry Film Festival in Berlin and Video Bardo in Buenos Aires, the Filmpoem Festival and Liberated Words have recently emerged in the UK, along with Ó Bhéal International Poetry-Film Competition in Ireland, Motionpoems in Minneapolis and the Body Electric Poetry Film Festival in Colorado. The Cinematheque's Visible Verse Festival is proud to maintain its position as North America's sustaining venue for artistically significant videopoetry and film.
