WOMENARTS MOVES TO BERKELEY
After five years in San Francisco, WomenArts is moving to the neighboring town of Berkeley, California. Please note our new mailing address and phone number at the bottom of this email.
We are very excited about collaborating with many wonderful artists and arts organizations in our new home town and with the faculty, staff, and students at the University of California Berkeley, one of the best universities in the U.S.
If you have written to us this month and we did not respond, please try again. It has been a hectic month of packing and unpacking, and we may have missed your email.
NORA EPHRON DIES AT 71
WomenArts joins with many others to mourn the passing of Oscar-nominated screen writer and director, Nora Ephron this past Tuesday. Ephron was one of her era’s most successful screenwriters and filmmakers, making romantic comedy hits like “Sleepless in Seattle” and “When Harry Met Sally” and "Julie and Julia."
The Washington Post commented, "As a woman in the male-dominated movie business, Ms. Ephron was a rare 'triple-hyphenate' as writer, director and producer. But making movies for and about women was a battle, at times. She observed how, to male studio moguls, 'a movie about a woman’s cure for cancer is less interesting than a movie about a man with a hangnail.'"

THEATRE COMMUNICATIONS GROUP - Theatre Communications Group (www.tcg.org) is a national alliance of non-profit theatres that offers a range of online information services, publications and grants. They publish ArtSearch, a newsletter for theatre job-seekers that lists available positions all over the country, and American Theatre, a monthly magazine that provides news about the non-profit theatre world.
