Newsletter: Cross-Meet-And-Greet

New York Coalition of Professional Women in the Arts & Media
The Coalition introduces a new
networking series:
CROSS-MEET-AND-GREETS!
Dear Board Member,
We're so excited for 2011 as the Coalition springs into action working harder than ever to address issues of concern to women in our industries and to create more networking opportunities.

For our first event of the new year, we are starting our new series, Cross OrganizationMeet & Greets!  This is an opportunity for two or three of our member organizations to get to know each other better as a whole and one-on-one through a social networking evening.  Our first Meet & Greet is to introduce members of LPTW (the League of Professional Theatre Women, our founding organization), and NYWIFT (New York Women in Film & Television).  Although these organizations do have some members in common, this is a great opportunity for theatre folk and media folk to mingle.
Our first Cross Organization Meet and Greet will be Monday, January 10, 2011, from 6-8 p.m. at Pranna, 79 Madison Avenue (between 28th and 29th Streets).www.prannarestaurant.com  We will be downstairs in a private room.  Hors d'oeuvres will be provided, and there is a cash bar.
This event is specifically for members of LPTW and NYWIFT.  Members of LPTWand NYWIFT, please join us (this event is standing in for both organization's monthly networking night)!
If you are not a member of NYWIFT but would like to join, there will be a special deal that night:  $100 off on the initiation fee!  So come join become a member of NYWIFT if you've been planning to but haven't yet and you can start your membership with a fabulous networking night and save $100!

Email us to let us know you're planning to attend, and which organization you are a part of (or whether you plan to join NYWIFT that night).

VintAGE: Celebrating Women Artists Over 40

VintAge 2010

The Coalition held an outstanding VintAGE event on March 1, 2010! We sold out the Symphony Space Leonard Nimoy Thalia Theatre, and everyone was bowled over by the performances and suitably impressed with the need for improvement to job opportunities for women over 40!

Choreographer Mercedes Ellington, actresses Betsy von Furstenberg and Anita Gillette, songwriters Gretchen Cryer and Nancy Ford, Ilene Kristen, and Shellen Lubin, the cast of "Women of a Certain Age" and more provided a vibrant evening of music, dance, theater and film enjoyed by all!  We rejoiced, commemorated and celebrated the achievements of women over the age of 40, and examined the not so secret world of women and ageism.

All ticket holders enjoyed our after-party at UnWined in Symphony Space.  Networking with other industry professionals dedicated to promoting the advancement of women and parity in the arts and media.

WHERE ARE WE NOW? IS AGEISM ON THE WANE OR HAS IT INTENSIFIED?

Keep working women of a certain age off the endangered species list.

VintAGE: Celebrating Women Artists Over 40

PRESENTED IN ASSOCIATION WITH AMERICAN FEDERATION OF TELEVISION AND RADIO ARTISTS AND SCREEN ACTORS GUILD

Have we come a long way, baby, only to be sidelined after the age of 40?

Congratulations to the Coalition and its membership for an outstanding VintAGE event on March 1, 2010! We sold out and everyone was bowled over by the wonderful performances and impressed with the need for improvement to job opportunities for women over 40!
